Mind & Body in Midlife: A Personal Journey ~ and a Guide for Every Woman Navigating This Season

Updated: 5 days ago

Midlife arrives differently for every woman, but the changes it brings can feel surprisingly sudden. One day, you feel like yourself, and the next, you wonder why your body, your emotions, and even your mind feel unfamiliar. It can be frustrating and isolating, as if you are the only one moving through this shift. Yet the beautiful irony is that you are not alone at all. Every woman experiences some version of this, and there are gentle, supportive ways to feel like yourself again.

For me, this wasn’t just a chapter I observed from a distance ~ it was something I walked through intimately, right in the middle of the most demanding season of my career. Thankfully, I have the most supportive husband, who understood that this was something we would move through together and that his support could make all the difference.

As a wedding planner and designer for over two decades, I spent years moving through long event days on my feet, managing high-stress timelines, and holding space for the heightened emotions of dozens of people at once. It’s a beautiful job, but it takes a toll ~ physically, mentally, and emotionally. During COVID, when my business was navigating constant change and I was right in the “heat” of menopause, the shift in my body became impossible to ignore.

Suddenly, what had always been easy began to feel heavy. My feet were cramping, my sleep was disrupted, and my once-reliable energy seemed to evaporate. Even my skill set ~ something I have always taken great pride in ~ felt like it was slipping.

For the first time in my life, I experienced a brief but profound moment of feeling depressed and hopeless. It lasted only a day, but it shook me. I’ve always been the “glass half full” person, the one who could find beauty and optimism anywhere. But in that moment, I knew I needed to make a change.

I needed a new way of caring for myself ~ one that supported this chapter of my life instead of fighting against it.

At the same time, my husband, Gokhan, a fitness and recovery coach, was starting to notice similarities in his clients. He works with many women in midlife who seemed to be experiencing the exact same shifts with many of the same struggles and complaints. And my closest friends were quietly whispering their own stories ~ the fatigue, the brain fog, the weight changes, the frustration, and the sense of aloneness ~ even if they were married.”

Although menopause and perimenopause are finally being discussed amongst medical practitioners, celebrities, mainstream, and social media, the answers were still not obvious and sometimes even more confusing.

Why We Created This Book

Mind & Body in Midlife was born from lived experience ~ mine, my husband’s work with women just like us, and the collective wisdom of, and lots of hours-long coffee chats, with my circle of friends who were all also navigating this season in their own way.

I wanted to create something genuinely helpful ~ something I wished I had during my own transition.

Inside, we share:

• A training approach designed specifically for women 40+

• How to nourish your body in a way that supports hormones and steady energy

• How to build strength without burnout

• Gentle lifestyle shifts that create clarity and calm

• Practical routines that fit into a full, beautifully busy life

Every page was written with intention ~ to help you feel grounded, strong, and deeply supported as you move into this next chapter.

Why Midlife Wellness Matters

Midlife is not a decline ~ it’s a redesign. It’s a chance to choose how you want to live, feel, and show up.

For women 40+, feeling well isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what is right for your body. Sometimes that means stepping back and doing less, sometimes it means choosing to move in a better way or nourish yourself differently than you had in the past, sometimes you just need connection and support. When you really listen to yourself and pay attention to what your body and mind need, everything begins to shift ~ your energy, your strength, your confidence, your relationship with yourself and possibly even your partner, and your capacity to enjoy the life you’ve worked so hard to create.

A Journey You Don’t Have to Take Alone

This book is for the woman who wants to feel good again. The woman who wants guidance without overwhelm. The woman who wants her strength back ~ physically, mentally, emotionally. The woman who wants to age with beauty, energy, and intention, minus the frustration, pain, and struggle.

If you’re entering midlife, in the middle of it, or rebuilding yourself within it, I hope this book meets you with the same support I needed when I began my own journey.
